It's good to be alone..

in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.  - James Douglas

I actually enjoy being alone often, whether it's dawn, dark or all the hours in between.  But I love being with people too.  But when one is alone one can do exactly as one pleases, without thought for any other.  Being alone can be healing and allow time for your spirit to grow.  I like being alone.  But not lonely.

This last month has seen a few things in my sewing room finished, and a few on the way, and a few coming along... The beginnings of a quilt above...

And one started in a workshop, nearly finished.   And this stocking, for a friend, finished and posted away.

Can't get it to turn up the right way no matter how many times I save it and change it! Ah well.

  1. Hello from Florida. :D LOVE the finished quilt. That is GORGEOUS. (When blogger flips a picture on me, if I go into Paint and save as a PNG file, it'll load the right way up - weird!)

  3. I like my quiet time as well. My DH is gone to work or out of town, I get my best work done. Love your applique with the beautiful quilting.

  4. I know what you mean, quilting for hours on end can be solitary...but never lonely! I love it!

  5. Thank you for all of your lovely comments. Especially about my quilting - I don't think it so good close up, but it's from a class I did recently with an Australian quilter called Pam Hill. Before I did her class I was firmly held in my belief that I couldn't machine quilt! Now, with practise, there's hope! Lyn thanks for the advice about getting the picture the right way up. I tried to flip it in my normal program, and in my files it's the right way up, but as soon as it's uploaded to Blogger, it turns round again. So I'll try your method and see what happens. There was someone who wanted to know what the stitchery was on the stocking...it's from a Hugs N Kisses pattern for a quilt called Twas the Night Before Christmas.
